Recently, Beijing Huatai Law Firm and the School of Law at Beihang University held a symposium, during which both sides discussed… Jointly establish a teaching and research base In-depth consultations were held on the details of the cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the official establishment of the base. Attending the related events were Director Zhao Zemin, Chief Partner of Huatai Law Firm and Chairman of the National Branches Joint Conference; Deputy Directors Zhang Zufeng and Deng Pei; Partner Wang Pei; as well as Dean Pan Weijiang and Vice Dean Chu Dianqing of the School of Law at Beihang University. At the symposium, Director Zhao Zemin outlined the development of Huatai Law Firm. He pointed out that, The legal profession is rooted in talent, and the source of that talent lies in education. Universities are the cradle for cultivating legal professionals, while law firms serve as the battlefield for honing practical skills. This joint establishment of a teaching and research base aims to integrate real-world experience into the curriculum and leverage frontline cases to enrich classroom learning. Huatai Law Firm will wholeheartedly provide Beihang faculty and students with a high-quality platform for practical training, access to authentic case materials, and immersive courtroom‑style settings, thereby helping students enhance their professional expertise and ethical standards. At the same time, the firm will actively participate in academic research and scholarly exchanges, fostering the mutual advancement of legal theory and judicial practice.
Dean Pan Weijiang delivered a welcome address on behalf of Beihang University’s School of Law. He also outlined the university’s recent strategic approach to discipline development—“world‑class engineering, first‑rate science, high‑quality humanities, and leading medical‑engineering programs”—and highlighted the School of Law’s plans to launch, by 2025, “Artificial Intelligence + Law” Professional innovative initiatives. This joint initiative represents an important step in Huatai Law Firm’s efforts to deepen the integration of industry and education. Director Zhao Zemin stated that Huatai Law Firm will provide Beihang faculty and students with practical platforms, case resources, and real‑world litigation settings, helping them enhance their professional skills while also participating in teaching and research activities to promote the convergence of theory and practice. The two parties engaged in in‑depth discussions on issues such as talent development and research collaboration, reaching broad consensus.
Following the symposium, a brief yet solemn ceremony was held to present appointment letters to off-campus mentors. On behalf of Beihang University School of Law, Dean Pan Weijiang conferred the appointment letter upon Director Zhao Zemin of Huatai Law Firm, thereby establishing a core link for collaborative education between the university and the firm and strengthening the guiding role of practice-oriented teaching.
